If you're looking for accommodation in Derby Tasmania with all the home comforts then Trouty Cottage is it. This old miners cottage visible in photos of the old Derby mining town is now bigger and we daresay much more comfortable than when it was a two room dwelling. There are three carpeted bedrooms with new comfortable beds and winter and summer weight doonas. There is a king room with the most amazing King bed, the middle room made up as a King or twin long single; and the third bedroom with double bed and additional single bed. There is modular storage for hanging and storing clothes and suitcase stands in each room as well as space with high power USB ports for recharging the tech. The entire rear of the cottage has been opened up into a single living area with double glazed windows and wood heater to ensure you remain comfortable during cooler weather as well as providing extensive views of the Derby area from the lower sections of the iconic Blue Derby trail “Trouty”, to Briseis Lake (with glimpses of Blue Derby’s amazing floating sauna), the Dorset Hotel, and the sheep in the paddock next door. There’s also a heat pump for that quick warm up when you emerge in the morning for a quick brekkie before heading off to the world class Blue Derby trails. The beautifully furnished living area includes enough lounge seating for your whole party together with a large TV just in case there’s an important game of cricket or footy you don’t think you can miss. It’s unlikely you’ll be using the TV much though as the living area opens onto the large vine covered deck with the same extensive views, and furnished with a large outdoor setting seating both the Cottage and Studio guests if need be, a BBQ on hand, and two bars overlooking the view (some punters rate this as the best deck of any accommodation in Derby Tasmania). Plenty of relaxed space to dissect the days riding and plan your next riding adventure (with the help of the large trail map over the breakfast bar inside). The kitchen is well equipped with quality appliances including dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, drinks fridge, coffee pod machine, and a large oven; but there’s also a sandwich maker, slow cooker and smoothie maker if you want to focus more on riding than meal prep! We have well stocked crockery and tumbler/coffee mug draws in case you forget to run the dishwasher and piles of cutlery and implements. Oh yeah, the knives are sharp so no tomato massacres here. The bathroom is spacious with a skylight to vent the steam and provide natural light. The shower is large enough for couples if you want to speed up the evening tub before heading out to drinks and dinner at The Hub or the Dorset Hotel. A washing machine and dryer for your everyday wear and non-soiled riding wear is provided just outside the bathroom. A much larger washing machine and dryer plus soaking tubs is provided in the bike shed for dirty riding gear!
